Earl Johnson is accused of killing David in the parking lot of a Baton Rouge business and live-streaming a portion of it.

After narrowing down the final jurors from three panels, the state attorney began with opening statements, saying Johnson knew what he was doing and the consequences of his actions. The state also says later in the trial, they will bring a psychiatric evaluator to the stand to prove Johnson was sane during the time of the murder.
