When Irish media asked Kansas State football coach Chris Klieman why his Wildcats were invited to open the 2025 season in Ireland, Klieman had a ready answer: “I think all the pubs are going to see why.”

I can’t attest to the drinking proclivity of K-State fans. But the Dublin Curse could drive anyone to drink.

Klieman’s ‘Cats lost 24-14 to Iowa State in Dublin on August 23 and since then have split tight games that seemed for sure to land on the winning side of the ledger.

KSU beat Division I-AA North Dakota 38-35, but only via a touchdown with 42 seconds left. Then Army reversed that on the Wildcats, rallying for a 27-24 victory. The Black Knights had lost to Tarleton State the week before.
