Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA (TPUSA), died at a hospital after being shot in the neck Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University (UVU).
Kirk, 31, was a leader within the brand of populist conservatism that has taken over the Republican Party in the age of President Donald Trump. He launched his organization in 2012 targeting younger people and venturing onto liberal-leaning college campuses where many GOP activists were nervous to tread.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect, the mayor says. A person who was taken into custody at UVU was not the suspect, according to a person familiar with the investigation who was not authorized to speak publicly. It was not clear if authorities wer
