NASHUA, N.H. —

Nashua's mayor is asking for state and federal support in buying the Daniel Webster College property in the city.

During a Board of Aldermen meeting on Tuesday, Mayor Jim Donchess said that the property, which is currently owned by a Chinese entity, is not being used.

He estimated that it could be bought for $20 million and then used for housing.

"Daniel Webster College is a 40-some-acre parcel closer to the airport, nearly as close to the water supply, closer to BAE, the same distance from Hanscom, all the concerns that were expressed, and it is owned by a Chinese entity," Donchess said.
