LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A new subcommittee is being formed to revise the Vacant Building Ordinance after the Laredo City Council meeting on September 2, where they decided to cancel the current ordinance .

Economic Development Advisory members discussed the selection of three individuals from the current advisory to join the new subcommittee.

Julian Rotnofsky , a downtown Laredo business owner, has advocated for changes to the current ordinance. He believes the new ordinance should provide incentives for property owners to reinvest in their buildings.

He stated, “Make sure that when it’s brought back, it’s brought back with an incentive policy. Using the example of the carrot and the stick, you want to have the carrot to incentivize people.“
