LORAIN, Ohio — Lorain City Councilman Tony Dimacchia introduced what he's calling the "Accountability Ordinance" at the city's most recent legislative meeting.

"If you're just standing by doing nothing, then shame on you, because it is your obligation, your responsibility, to raise your child," Dimacchia told 3News in a Wednesday interview. "We want parents to be partners in prevention, rather than bystanders of the consequences of their child's actions."

Under the proposed measure, adults cannot allow, encourage, or fail to stop their children from breaking laws or violating Lorain's curfew. This comes as city leaders say Lorain is dealing with an increase in violent crimes committed by minors.
