National Television Awards viewers were left feeling emotional after the ‘voice of Albert Square’ collected EastEnders top prize at the event.
In a year that marks the programme’s 40th anniversary year, it was a busy night for EastEnders at the event in London.
Held on Wednesday night (September 10), with Joel Dommett on presenting duties for the fifth time, the BBC soap won the two major soap awards.
The first arrived when Steve McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell, was voted the winner of the Best Serial Drama Performance category.
Steve was picked ahead of his co-star Jacqueline Jossa, Emmerdale ’s Eden Taylor-Draper, and Coronation Street duo Jack P Shepherd and Sue Devaney.
