PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Several Oregon leaders released statements after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at Utah Valley University on Tuesday.

Kirk, the founder and CEO of conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was reportedly shot in the neck during an event at the university.

He was taken to the hospital following the shooting and later died.

The Democratic Party of Oregon condemned political violence and emphasized the need to find a solution for gun violence.
