BATH, NY (WENY) -- September 10th marks World Suicide Prevention Day. In Steuben County, people gathered in Bath to share stories of loved ones they had lost and joined together for a Suicide Awareness Walk.
"It's to honor those who lost the battle and to bring awareness that there are supports and help in our community. We're here to listen, and no story is too soon to end," said the Program Coordinator for Steuben County Community Services PROS Program, Wendy Kesel.
One of the speakers was a woman whose son, Clay, died by suicide on August 6th, 2014, at 15 years old. She said Clay was an honor student, an athlete, well-known, and compassionate, and that she continues to share his story to keep his legacy alive.
