Students at West Charlotte High School marked Suicide Prevention Week this morning with a prevention walk organized by the school’s social workers and school psychologist. Why it matters: In 2022, a Johns Hopkins study found that the suicide rate for Black adolescents in the United States increased by 144% from 2007 to 2020.
The event was an effort to raise awareness of suicidal behaviors, reduce social stigma and encourage more conversation around mental health.
