SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Several kids are putting their best foot forward, thanks to a generous shoe giveaway.

"Just to make it an experience for these kids, giving them name-brand, brand new shoes," Rudy Navarrete said.

Rudy Navarrete is behind the more than 300 pairs of shoes handed out Wednesday at two Sioux Falls elementary schools for students involved with the Boys and Girls Club of the Sioux Empire. He fundraises all year at various community events to raise the money to buy them.

"If they leave an extra dollar or an extra one hundred dollars, it all adds up," Navarrete said. "It's cool to see people just give what they can afford to happily give."

Wednesday afternoon marked the eighth year for the giveaway. Students could choose from various styles and sizes of footwear.
