The Garnet Fire in eastern Fresno County has grown to nearly 57,000 acres as of Wednesday.
Firefighters have the blaze 15% contained
The U.S. Forest Service reported that there are nearly 2,700 total personnel on site to fight the fire, which started by a lightning strike on Aug. 24.
Fire crew plan to continue direct line construction where terrain and fire behavior allow while reinforcing and extending indirect line using existing and historic firelines.
The Forest Service is prioritizing point protection for cultural sites and the McKinley Grove of Giant Sequoias. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office evacuation map can be viewed here.
