WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Significant progress has been made on a new ice rink in Warwick that's going to be part of an outdoor recreational center.
Mayor Frank Picozzi told 12 News he's excited about what the project, which is expected to be done by November, will bring for residents in Apponaug Village.
"I put it here specifically because Apponaug Village is a historic village, but for years it just hasn't blossomed," Picozzi said. "It's a lot of run down buildings. We're trying to make this the center of the city again and bring new businesses to the area."
The center's official name will be the Greenwood Credit Union City Hall Plaza. The center will also have different types of activities throughout the year, according to Picozzi, such as roller-skating and pickleball. • Renderings o
