Although O'Shon (Matthew Law) brought down Ava Coleman's (Janelle James) walls and made her a more empathetic character on Abbott Elementary , their relationship should stop growing by the middle of season 5. The wonderful staff at Philadelphia's Abbott Elementary are well-rounded and dedicated to their students, but it's rare to find every main character of a sitcom in a happy relationship.

Ava was once a character who didn't need a partner. She was strong and empowered without the romantic words of a boyfriend. Things changed when Ava met the school district's IT man, O'Shon. Their relationship transformed Ava's storyline on Abbott Elementary , fleshing out her thick-skinned demeanor. However, she never needed a man, and that's how her character should evolve.
