LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Road rage shooting victim Onyx Sands and her family are launching a new health and safety initiative for children called "Onyx Strong."
Sands, 8, was paralyzed in a road rage incident in 2023. Now, she’s using her story to stop gun violence.
“When people hear that little voice and they see that little smile they’re instantly drawn to her," Onyx's mother, Chyna Sands, said.
“I’m looking forward to see kids happy, see kids be brave, see kids make the world a better place," Onyx Sands added.
It's been 26 months since the young girl was hit by a bullet that came through the back window of an SUV. The gunshot was allegedly fired by Edward Sark who police said was driving recklessly on I-65 and got into an altercation with the driver of the car.
