The fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has been condemned on both sides of US politics, with particular resonance for public figures who have experienced political violence themselves.
31 year old Kirk, chief executive and co-founder of the youth organisation Turning Point USA, was shot during an appearance at a Utah university.
Several leaders who have survived public attacks or had family members victimised joined in bipartisan condemnation of the attack on Kirk.
