Police have charged a central Queensland woman after she allegedly defrauded two elderly people of nearly $1 million.
The 55-year-old woman is accused of taking over the financial accounts of two people, who were known to her, between January 2020 and September 2025.
Police say she is not related to the victims and knew them for some years before the alleged offending started.
"It will be alleged the woman fraudulently used the victims' bank accounts for her own benefit over the five-year period," a police spokesperson said.
Family members notified police in June 2025 after observing irregularities in the elderly people's accounts.
Officers have described the alleged defrauding as "devastating for the families".
