JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — Fresh grass seed sits on nearly one acre of land along 214 West Court Avenue in Jeffersonville. Mayor Mike Moore hopes he can attract a grocery store to the downtown location.

"Aldi, Paul's Fruit Market, Ruler," Moore mused on Wednesday. "Those are elements that would be a perfect fit here."

He wants a mid-size market on the 40,000-square-foot plot—too small for a supermarket.

"We're not building for the next five years, we're building for the next 25 to 30 years," Moore said. "You show me you've got the financial stability, I'll show you a good deal on a very valuable piece of land."

Local Sherri Hartig thinks a new spot would be more convenient.

"It's already looking better," she said of the old lot that's been nothing but concrete for a decade.
