MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The search was on for the best tap water in Wisconsin on Wednesday as public utilities from across the state competed.
Following the blind taste test, Janesville took the top spot.
Judges ranked the water from both surface and ground water utilities on clarity, taste and odor. WMTV Sports’ Mike “Jocko” Jacques was a celebrity guest judge at the competition.
Curt Czarneck is chair of the American Waterworks Association. He says Wisconsin produces excellent quality water.
“We’re very fortunate to have a lot of waterbodies available and excellent source water,” he said. “That generates a lot of great tasting water and it’s safe for our customers.”
Janesville will move on to the national competition in Washington D.C. next June.
