A documentary about the late great Canadian actor and comedian, John Candy, recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, which is making one local history buff recall his visit to Vancouver Island.
Candy visited Vancouver Island in the ’80s and spent some time fishing out on Campbell River.
Old footage was taken of him with Terry David Mulligan and former hockey player Tiger Williams out on the water for the show Break Away Outdoors back in 1986. Candy even successfully caught a bite.
Known for his comedic talent in successful films like Uncle Buck, Spaceballs and Trains Planes and Automobiles from the 1980s and ’90s, Candy passed away in 1994 at the age of 43.
