EVERGREEN, Colo. — When horror strikes Colorado, it's neighbors and communities who step up and take care of each other.

Three students, including the male suspect, were injured in a shooting at Evergreen High School Wednesday afternoon, law enforcement officials said. Just down the road, Don Cygan was wrapping up lunch when he heard a pounding on his door.

"All of a sudden there was this pounding on our front door. And I mean, I could tell by the pounding that something bad had happened," Cygan said. He said he thought it was an accident along the dirt road that leads to the school, one he said students often drive along. He didn't know shots had been fired.
