COLONA, Ill. (KWQC) - Fire Chief John Swan of the Colona Fire Department has retired after 37 years with the city.
A ceremony was held Wednesday evening to thank Swan for his service and to officially swear in Deputy Fire Chief Kirk Wyffels in Swan’s place.
The police department posted a special thank you message to former chief Swan.
“Today we want to take a moment to honor and thank retired Chief John Swan for his many storied years of dedicated service to the City of Colona,” the police department wrote on Facebook.
“Chief Swan’s leadership left a lasting impact not only on our police department, but on the entire community. His steady guidance, commitment to public safety, and genuine care for the people of Colona have helped shape the city we know today.
