METAIRIE, La. (Louisiana First) — The New Orleans Saints are once again scrambling at safety with Julian Blackmon out long-term with a shoulder injury. The black and gold first brought Blackmon in shortly after Tyrann Mathieu surprisingly retired right before training camp.
Replacing him won't be easy. Blackmon played every defensive snap against Arizona and was one of the highest-graded Saints players in that game.
The Saints will turn to rookie Jonas Sanker to replace Blackmon, with others rotating in.
Saints head coach Kellen Moore said Sanker will do an "awesome job". The third-round pick played just one defensive snap against Arizona but impressed in preseason and training camp with his physical play style.
"Certainly, his physicality that he plays with, but I think he plays it in
