YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- It was 150 years ago Wednesday, at the second reunion of Pioneer Citizens of the Mahoning Valley, that the Mahoning Valley Historical Society was formed.

To celebrate the milestone birthday, 150 people gathered for gala celebration at Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown. The historical society also ended its year-long tribute to its sesquicentennial.

"We've been observing, having events, tying all of our regular programs and events into the anniversary celebration since last September. So, this brings it all to a close, and we're going it in a very grand and high fashion," said MVHS Executive Director Bill Lawson.
