Bendigo Bank is the latest financial institution to make sweeping changes to its technology division amid a wave of job cuts in the banking sector .

The Finance Sector Union (FSU) said 145 jobs would be cut and 637 workers would be affected by Bendigo Bank's technology division restructuring on September 11.

The Bendigo Bank development comes after ANZ axed 3500 jobs on September 9, NAB cut 410 jobs on September 10 and Bank of Queensland (BOQ) let go of 200 staff in late August.

FSU national secretary Julia Angrisano said workers were being blindsided, jobs were being offshored, and customers were left with "poor service" as a result of the cuts.

"Bendigo and BOQ like to market themselves as different, but they're following the same playbook as the big banks," Ms Angrisano said.
