YOUNGSTOWN A Youngstown man was inducted into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame during a Wednesday induction ceremony, held at the Ohio Statehouse, located at 1 Capitol Square in Columbus.

Ernest Matthew Hight Sr. is described in an induction ceremony packet distributed at the event.

According to the packet, Hight was a pillar of the community he was a part of before his death on March 4, 2021, at the age of 90.

Hight grew up in Kentucky and attended high school in West Virginia. However, he and his wife, Joanne Hairston, relocated to Youngstown in 1952 in order for Hight to take a job with U.S. Steel.

After working with U.S. Steel, he then began working with Republic Steel and the Automobile Specialty Company.
