RICHLAND, Wash. – Samuel Wang, a Hanford High School freshman, has been named one of the top 300 innovators in the 2025 Thermo-Fisher Junior Innovators Challenge . He was selected from a pool of 2,000 students nationwide.

The Mid-Columbia Regional Science and Engineering Fair nominated Samuel for this competition. He completed his science project while still in eighth grade at Enterprise Middle School in Richland.

The Thermo-Fisher JIC is recognized as one of the nation's top STEM competitions for middle school students.

Samuel's project, titled "Multimodal Acoustic Frequency Modulation for Autonomous Fire Suppression: AI-Enhanced Spatiotemporal Mapping and Fire Dynamics Analysis," showcases his innovative approach to fire suppression.
