TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - East Texans gathered to pray after a shooting incident occurred in Utah, killing conservative activist, Charlie Kirk.

“Today we started with this rosary to pray for him,” says Veronica Toliver from the Cathedral Parish community in Tyler. “We gather today to mourn the loss, to pray for him.”

They’re praying for Charlie Kirk, a well-known conservative activist.

“We lost Charlie Kirk, a patriot, a good Christian man, a family man, to senseless violence,” says Toliver.

Charlie Kirk died after being shot during an event at Utah Valley University.

“It doesn’t matter who you are,” says David Stein, Smith County Republican Party Chairman. “It’s awful; this is a human being.”

Stein says this was yet another act of senseless violence.
