RUSK, Texas (KTRE) - Rusk authorities say a man who has been on the run since August after a shooting is now in custody.

Donald Everett Casper, 44, was on the run after shooting a man. It was supposedly a drug deal gone wrong that led to an aggravated assault, officials said. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office took Casper into custody at around 1 a.m. Wednesday. They received a tip leading to his arrest, they said.

There was a $500 reward offered for information leading to Casper’s arrest. That money was given to the tipster.

Casper remains in the Cherokee County Jail.
