NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The Norfolk School Board has found consensus on a list of schools to be closed and repurposed, but they appear poised to nail down a timeline down the road.
In a nearly three-hour special-called meeting Wednesday night, board members debated a half-dozen proposals on how to shrink the number of schools in the school division to better serve a declining student population.
City Council wanted a plan delivered by Aug. 1 that would result in the closing and consolidation of 10 schools in five years. However, the School Board asked for an extension until next week.
