VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — That cool breeze outside is a reminder that the summer tourist season has wrapped up.
So how did Virginia do?
As anyone who lives in Virginia already knows, Virginia is for lovers, but they may want to add tourists to the sign.
Last month, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Virginia's tourism industry generated a record-high $35.1 billion in visitor spending, marking a 5.4% increase from $33.3 billion in 2023.
"And about three out of those four visitors are coming out of state, so we're really happy to see those results," said Dan Dorberts with the Virginia Tourism Corporation. "As we like to say, vacation starts with VA. That's why we're currently inviting consumers to come travel to the Commonwealth to experience, and really, we want travelers to come
