COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has agreed to a federal request to extend the Washington deployment of the National Guard until the end of November, his office announced on Wednesday.
DeWine approved 150 military police to be sent to the nation's capital last month to support National Guard members at the request of the U.S. army secretary, who also requested the extended stay until Nov. 30.
"While some of the Ohio National Guard members will be rotated, Ohio will continue to provide 150 military police to carry out presence patrols. None of these military police members are currently serving as law enforcement officers in the state of Ohio," DeWine said.
