A ROAD rage attacker who jumped from his car with a knife after a fender bender on a road outside Cessnock was knocked to the ground and dragged along the roadway as the other driver desperately tried to reverse away.

"You hit me up the arse," Dylan James Wade was shouting. "I'm going to stab you."

But when the other driver stalled his car about 50 metres down the road, Wade, 34, got to his feet, ran over, ripped open the door and stabbed him in the leg.

Details of how the minor crash escalated into a road rage attack that left two people in hospital can be revealed after Wade pleaded guilty to reckless wounding in Cessnock Local Court on Wednesday.

Wade, a labourer from Cessnock with a bad temper and a long history of violence, remains behind bars and will be sentenced next month.
