A Central Missouri couple is combining their fitness journey with a fundraiser for a local organization that aids the deaf and limited hearing community in the Show-Me State and beyond.

Wende Wagner, development manager for DeafLEAD , the Columbia-based crisis intervention, advocacy, case management, interpreting and mental health support service provider, is an avid Zumba fitness program participant at the Columbia Activity and Recreation Center. Roughly four to five months ago in either April or May, a sign was up in her class about a training group preparing to participate in the Bear Creek Run Half-Marathon happening Oct. 25.
