KEOKUK (WGEM) - A local high school is taking its mental health resources up a notch with a new addition this school year.

Keokuk’s newest employee, Ozzie Ray, is a labradoodle with one mission in mind: To spread joy and “paw”-sitivity to students and staff, and they already love him.

“We’ve had staff and students stop in to see him,” said Jennifer Ferguson, Ozzie Ray’s owner and AEA social worker. “Just to see him.”

Ferguson said that when the certified therapy dog isn’t busy with visitors, he’ll do the visiting.

“He’ll go walk around the library [or] the hallways,” Ferguson said. “Just so students can enjoy him as well.”
