MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — An employee with Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has been terminated following the death of conservative influencer, Charlie Kirk.

Kirk, 31, was killed by a single shot while speaking at Utah Valley University Wednesday in Orem, Utah, about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. Kirk was taken in a private vehicle to the hospital where he died. Investigators believe this was a targeted attack and the suspect remains on the run.

After the shooting, an MTSU employee made remarks about Kirk's death on social media, which led to school president Sidney A. McPhee releasing a statement.
