Lord Peter Mandelson has been removed as the UK's ambassador to the US after the prime minister made the decision to withdraw him from his role.

Sir Keir Starmer asked the foreign secretary to withdraw the ambassador from his position after the depths of the Lord's links to Jeffery Epstein was unveiled.

The prime minister's decision was announced today (September 11) following the revelation he coached Epstein through "years of torture" over underage sex charges.

In an email to Epstein in 2008, he wrote: “Your friends stay with you and love you.”

It was even reported the ambassador had urged the banker to "fight for early release," according to the Sun.
