Carnegie Mellon University students painted "The Fence" early Thursday morning to honor Charlie Kirk.

The Fence has always been a place for students to share messages. Organizers arrived around 4 p.m. Wednesday to guard the fence, and began painting at midnight in accordance with Fence rules. Their main goal was to express condolences and appreciation for Kirk.
