In 28-year-old Myles Parker’s business in Fountain Square, Webhead's Barbershop, a large mural of characters from the Spider-Man franchise covers one wall. A shelf displays Spider-Man comics and figurines. Parker himself is covered in Spider-Man tattoos.

To Parker, a transgender man, Spider-Man is more than just a character. He is a symbol of endurance — a person who goes through hard times but never gives up fighting for what’s right.

“Life's hard for everybody, and it kicks you down so many times,” Parker said. “I know I’ve been kicked down a lot, but I just keep on pushing. Keep fighting for little guy, fighting for myself, fighting for what I believe in.”

Parker has been cutting hair since 2019. He specifically focuses on gender-affirming haircuts for individuals in the queer commun
