A tropical wave is expected to emerge off the shore of west Africa by Friday, forecasters with the National Hurricane Center in Miami said Thursday.
Weather conditions could support some slow development of the disturbance over the weekend into early next week as it moves west or west-northwest, forecasters said at 7 a.m. Thursday.
The system is expected to travel around 15 mph over the eastern and central tropical Atlantic, forecasters said.
The system poses no immediate threat to Louisiana.
As of 7 a.m. Thursday, there is a 30% the disturbance will develop into a tropical storm or depression within the next week.
