Thursday will mark 24 years since the attacks on 9/11.

“Twenty-four years? Wow. It seems like it was yesterday,” said Jose Barrientos, who was visiting the Maryland 9/11 Memorial in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor on Wednesday. “I was working construction (in Virginia), we were just starting the project, and that’s when we learned about the tragedy. We stopped everything. Could not believe it, it was devastating.”

Wednesday was Barrientos’ first time seeing the memorial, which serves as a site to reflect and remember 9/11 — while also paying tribute to the 69 Marylanders who lost their lives.

“Everybody remembers where they were when 9/11 happened,” said Sue Kutcher, who was going to the Orioles game.
