SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- San Diego Police are investigating a deadly shooting that took place Wednesday night in the Ocean Beach neighborhood. • The Nexstar Media video above answers the question: is violent crime going up in America?

Officers responded around 11:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the parking lot just west of Hodad’s, a popular local burger spot located at 5010 Newport Ave. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a victim had been shot. Details about the victim or circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been released.

As of Thursday morning, no arrests have been made and there is an active homicide investigation underway. San Diego Police confirmed the ongoing investigation but declined to provide additional details at this time.
