PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A tale of two forecasts is taking shape as Portland heads towards the weekend. Temperatures will slowly warm with the chance of rain returning by Sunday.

Mostly sunny skies are expected to warm temperatures into the mid 70s along the Willamette Valley on Thursday. A weak and brief ridge of high pressure and extra sunshine will help area thermometers warm close to the average of 79 degrees by the weekend. Some locations could even see temperatures in the low 80s on Saturday.

No rain is expected from Thursday to Saturday across western Oregon and southwest Washington. A few isolated thunderstorms will likely develop over the Cascades and over eastern Oregon and Washington on Thursday and Friday.
