A Sioux Lookout man who was the victim of a serious assault late last month has succumbed to his injuries.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police, officers with its Sioux Lookout detachment were dispatched to a residence on Miller Crescent on Aug. 22, just before 6 p.m., where a male was located with life-threatening injuries.

The man was transported to hospital and on Aug. 29 he was pronounced deceased.

The man has been identified as 34-year-old Tyrone Lawrence Kakepetum of Sioux Lookout.

A post-mortem examination has been conducted in Toronto and the investigation remains ongoing.

The Sioux Lookout OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the OFPS.
