The FBI has located a weapon believed to be used in the shooting of Charlie Kirk, a prominent right-wing influencer, but the suspect remains at large. Kirk, 31, was shot while speaking to a crowd of approximately 3,000 at Utah Valley University in Orem, south of Salt Lake City, shortly after noon on Wednesday.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls announced during a press conference on Thursday that the weapon is a high-powered bolt-action rifle. "That was recovered in a wooded area where the shooter had fled," Bohls stated. He also mentioned that investigators have obtained images of the suspect and are analyzing footprints and other imprints found at the scene.

In response to the shooting, police and federal agents launched a significant manhunt for the sniper who fired the fatal shot while Kirk was discussing gun violence. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his sorrow over the incident, stating he was "filled with grief and anger at the heinous assassination." He added, "Charlie inspired millions and ... all who knew him and loved him are united in shock and horror."

As the search for the shooter continues, the community mourns the loss of a figure who had a substantial impact on conservative activism.
