Apostolos Stamatelopoulos can be a hero for Motherwell this season, but only if he’s given the service. ‌

That’s how boss Jens Berthel Askou sees the Australian, and hopes he has a good season, which in turn can bring success for the Steelmen. ‌

Stamatelopoulos has one strike to his name, in a 3-0 Premier Sports Cup win over Morton, but Askou says he’s not far away. ‌

He said: “He is an important player for us and ideally he will be the one finishing off most of our attacks, which means if he does well and we do well as a team he will have the opportunity to score a lot of goals, which is important for a striker.
