VALENCIA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – In an effort to bring the community together, A Los Lunas Public Library employee is gathering family recipes to include in the Valencia County Cookbook.

"During this time, it's a little crazy, people are kind of against each other, so I felt like it would be a good way to bring our community together with a cookbook because I feel like most people love food," said 21-year-old Tommy Madrid III, a library technician at the Los Lunas Public Library.

Madrid came up with the idea for a cookbook in 2024 and started accepting recipes in 2025. On Sept. 1, the first edition of the cookbook called "Valencia County Cooking" was released at libraries in Valencia County.
