'Every parent's worst nightmare' | Man allegedly raped 13-year-old who was sleeping in Lawrence in 2016

INDIANAPOLIS — Prosecutors have a charged a man accused of attacking women on the Monon Trail with raping a 13-year-old child back in 2016.

Larry Duerson Jr. has been charged with two counts each of rape and child molesting for allegedly attacking a sleeping child in Lawrence in February 2016.

Duerson is also charged with attempted rape, robbery, kidnapping, strangulation, battery, sexual battery and intimidation for a pair of attacks on women on the Monon Trail in August 2025.

Prosecutors said it was DNA from those attacks that helped them match Duerson with the attack on the 13-year-old nine years earlier.
