GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The city of Grand Rapids is holding meetings next week for residents to share their feedback on a new proposal for the city’s trash collection.
Two engagement sessions will be held at 6 p.m. on Sept. 15 at Sibley Elementary School and Sept. 18 at Grand Rapids Public School University.
The Single Hauler alternative would designate the city as the only provider for trash pickup services for all single-family homes and small multi-unit buildings.
The primary goal is to lower environmental impacts, reduce the number of heavy trucks on neighborhood streets and improve service quality, the city says.
Before proceeding with the plan, the city says it would like to hear what residents have to say.
