Michael Walters and his family moved to Barrington three years ago, and shortly thereafter they began riding their bikes all over town. Walters said it did not take long for him to experience one of the challenges facing local bicyclists.
“Once you get off the East Bay Bike Path there’s not a lot of dedicated cycling stuff,” he said. “And that’s something that we can work on as a town. In the meantime, it helps a lot to try to figure out safe ways, and routes so you can get out there on your bike.”
Walters, who recently joined the Barrington Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, is spearheading a new “Barrington Bike Bus” initiative. The program is designed to get more children riding their bikes to school safely each day. It invites parents or neighbors to sign up
